48 Hours Mystery also known as 48 Hours is an American television documentary program. This program airs on the CBS television network and is produced by Susan Zirinsky. 48 Hours was created in the early part of 1988, when the program first started it was just suppose to be a onetime feature but due to high ratings the program name was carried on. Over the years there have been many words attached to the end of this program name, these words usually have something to do with what is airing at that time. For example right now the program is named 48 Hour Mystery, this reflects the true crime theme of the program, but before when the program was about investigations it had the name 48 Hours Investigation. The 48 Hours franchise has received tons of nominations and awards; so far it has collected over 20 Emmys, 2 Peabody Awards, and 1 Ohio State Award. This is not surprising considering the amount of work CBS puts into this program, just like its counterpart 60 Minutes; 48 Hours has received pretty good ratings since it debuted. That does not mean it has been perfect; there have been a few controversies but none have been serious enough to end this program. When you tune into 48 Hours you can expect to see a well put together documentary. They usually deal with crime mysteries some of which have been solved and others which are yet to be solved. Other times the program's air time is use broadcast programs about tragic events such as the Columbine shooting or the September 11th attacks on the United States. There is no special announcer and the program is usually narrated by the journalist that put it together, most of the times the program is pretty interesting. Overall I give 48 Hours a 7/10. It is not the best program on CBS but it is still pretty good so go check it out. If you like what you see there you may also want to check out 60 Minutes or Dateline, even though these programs appear on different networks they are very similar and sometimes more interesting than 48 Hours. If you do not get a chance to see 48 Hours on CBS head over to their website, there you will find full length episodes which run for about 60 minutes each. The website is very user friendly so you should have no problem finding what you are looking for.
