America's Got Talent is an American television reality series that airs on NBC. This program is British owned and is hosted by Nick Cannon. Over the years American's Got Talent has changed hosts and judges pretty often but ratings have remained steady; this is one of the most watched programs on American television. America's got talent is basically a variety competition show; contestants from all walks of life are allowed to compete against other people. This show usually features dancers, singer, actors, ventriloquists, magicians, and bands. After the judges choose who is going to be allowed to compete on this show the audience is allowed to vote for their favorite performance. After a few rounds of voting which takes place over the course of a few weeks the winner is selected by popular vote. This is by far one of the better contest shows on television, not just because of the type of performers it attracts but because they also give away a pretty decent prize. Most other shows just give away few hundred thousand dollars, but America's Got Talent gives away one million dollars. This is a great reward for anyone who wins the show; it is more than enough money to help them launch their career. In addition the two runner ups sometimes get prizes like cars. If you have watched American Idol you will notice that this program looks a lot like it. This is because American Idol judge Simon Cowell has had a big part to play in the making and running of this show. For example in 2009 the judges went around eliminating really good acts for no reason leaving the show with a bunch of mediocre acts. Simon would not stand for this and he called up the judges and made them included some of the eliminated acts as "wild card" acts throughout the season. Overall America's Got Talent is a pretty good show, this is not one of those shows where you have to cover up the children's eyes or explain why something happened. The judges know what they are doing for the most part and make a fair decision more often than none. Another thing that makes this program so appealing is the fact that you get to participate; there is just something about being able to take part in fulfilling somebody's dream. So what are you waiting for? When the new season of America's Got Talent rolls around head over to NBC and take part in this awesome event.
