Cops is and American reality television program that airs on the Fox network, this program was started in 1989 and has been on the air ever since. Cops is now the second longest running program on the Fox network; currently the one that has been on air for the longest is another reality program called America's Most Wanted. Cops was created by John Langley and Malcolm Barbour; these two serve as executive producers from 1989-1993. Each episode of Cops runs for about 22 minutes without commercial breaks and is produced Langley Productions in association with Fox. Cops is done in documentary format; this means that a camera follows around the officers but does not interfere with what is going on. Though I should mention that on a few occasions the cameraman has had to help out the officers. For example on one occasion one of the officers that were being filmed was seriously injured in a foot pursuit, the cameraman who happened to be an officer off the law dropped the camera and took up the chase himself. But the action was still not lost because one of the other crew members grabbed the camera and ran after them. Although this is a pretty great show there has been some criticism because the show has a bias. In Cops most of the criminals are of the poorer class; this has lead some critics to say that the show is presenting a view that most crimes are committed by poor people. I am not saying that all crimes are committed by poor people, but the facts still stand that more crimes are committed by blue-collar workers than White-collar ones. I know this for a fact because I grew up in what most people would call "the ghetto" so I do not have any idea why critics and viewers would get angry over this. All things considered I think this is a pretty good show. In this show the bad guys are never victorious and the cops are never the bad guys.
