Ernie Anastos is a multiple award winning American News anchor with over 25 years experience currently working as a news anchor for New York's Fox 5 News. Born July 12 1943 in Nashua New Hampshire, the dynamic news anchor has worked for several top rated New York television stations during his long and illustrious career.
Ernie's career
He graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He is currently a member of the university's board. Shortly after graduating from college Anastos worked at the top radio station in Boston at the time WRKO radio. He then worked for another radio station in Chicago WFYR-FM under one of the best names in radio programming Bill Drake.
TV career
Ernie quit his high caliber radio job and set out for 'greener pastures' in TV. In 1976 his lifelong dream of being a news anchor was well on course when he landed his first T.V job at WPRI-TV in Rhode Island. Ernie was as impressive as an anchor that after just two years he had caught the eyes of the nation's top television stations and he made his big move to New York City at WABC-TV. Ernie worked there for 11 years before joining WCBS-TV where he anchored the 5 pm and 11pm news .In 1997 Ernie made another move this time to WWOR-TV where he remained until 2000 before returning to WCBS in 2001.After a 4 year spell he left the station after signing a $10million contract with his current employers WNYW-TV ("fox5").He anchors the 5pm and 10 pm news.
Ernie has anchored a myriad of award winning events during his long and successful career. Among them includes the death as well as funeral of Princess Diana in England, the death of John F.Kennedy, Jr which so him nominated for an Emmy award. On September 11th 2001 he anchored an award winning coverage of the events in New York.
Author
Anastos is a celebrated author who writes mainly children's books .He has written twixt: teens yesterday and today, as well as Ernie and the Big Newz.
Family
Anastos married Kelly a former school teacher 41 years a go and they have two children Nina and Philip. They live in their 5 bedroom home in Armonk New York.
Anastos is a staunch orthodox Christian following his Greek Heritage .He has even built a church in Greece from where his grandparents came from for the local community.
