John Hambrick was born in 1940 in Texas and has won seven Emmy awards as a reporter, actor, voice over announcer and newscaster. In the many years that he has been in the TV industry, he has worked for WNBC in New York City, WCIX and WTJV in Miami, KABBC-TV in Los Angeles and KRON-TV in San Francisco. He made his debut in Cleveland Ohio in 1967 at WEWS-TV's Channel 5 Eyewitness News. This TV station was an ABC-TV affiliate and John Hambrick worked as a co-presenter between 6.00 pm and 11.00 pm. There was a lot of fanfare during his debut and promotional adverts were included in the Cleveland Press and Cleveland Plain Dealer newspapers. In 1970, he was joined by Dorothy Fuldheim who is now deceased and as a result of their collaboration in the show, the station became the top news program until he moved in 1975. In 1985, he replaced Ralph Renick an anchor with WTVJ's channel 4. The station signed a 6 year contract with John Hambrick for the morning show. This was a big move and it also signaled a change from the half hour news programs to the one hour and 90 minute programs. He co-anchored the program between 6pm and 11pm and Jim Brosemer and Ana Azcuy who had temporarily replaced Ralph Renick were put in charge of the station's early news program. Before he joined WTJV, he was working as an anchor for KRON which is an affiliate of NBC. He is a brother to Judd Hambrick who was a newscaster for WKYC-TV and WJW-TV and Mike Hambrick who worked as a business news presenter. This former news anchor has had many accomplishments in journalism. In 1984, he won an Emmy award for the best newscast when he was working with WNBC-TV in New York City. He also won another Emmy for Cardinal Cooke Funeral when he was working at WNBC-TV between 1983 and 1984. In 1991, he won an Emmy for Florida's Obscenity Showdown when working for WCIX in Miami. Apart from being a newscaster, John Hambrick was also an actor and appeared in different TV series including Friday Night Lights which was featured on NBC. The most noticeable thing about this newscaster is that none of the stations renewed his contract after it came to an end and this explains why he was always moving from one station to another.
