Melrose Place is an American television drama that airs on The CW Network. This program is part of the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise and is basically a update version of the original Melrose Place which aired on Fox in the 1990s. This new show made its debut on The CW Network on September 8th 2009 and is currently in its first and only season; The CW has decided not to renew this show for a second season. Is that a good thing or bad thing? Well most critics are saying it is a very good thing, yes the girls are cute, yes the guys are very handsome, and yes they actors/actresses do a great job of playing their characters but there is just so many shows like this out there that this one just does not seem like anything special. Melrose Place is about the lives of the residents of an apartment complex which is located in West Hollywood. Here everything takes place from sex, to drugs, murder, and even prostitution. Leave it to the creators of the 90210 franchise to create such a "great" show. Despite their best efforts the ratings for this show have been pretty poor, not just in the United States but also in the other countries like Canada and Israel where this program has been syndicated. Entertainment Weekly gave this program a B rating and The Los Angeles Times states in its review of this show that it is a far cry from the original. It has changed from a soap opera to a mystery drama which does not quite fit into the 90210 franchise. The only place that I could find that gave it a pretty decent rating was The Hollywood Reporter; here is what they said "It's all brand new and shiny but comfortably familiar and keenly calculated." I cannot stress this point enough; this is not a show for children. The situations portrayed in it are graphic and are not intended for viewers under the age of 16, if you are looking for a program for your children to watch find something else. I am not the only reviewer saying this; if you visit the review site pluggedin.com you will find that they have come to the same conclusion. Melrose Place is not what I would call quality entertainment, if you have absolutely nothing else to do, crawl over to The CW Network and check this program out, or you can log onto their website to watch full episodes.
