Owned by Discovery Communication, the Military Channel is one of Discovery's sister channels and was launched September 13, 1991. During its early broadcast years the Military Channel's programming consisted mainly of aircraft and aerospace programs, but in recent years their programming has shifted towards more documentaries on special ops and developing weapons technology. Programs like Special Ops Mission, Future Weapons, Weaponology, Top Ten and Combat Zone are a shown on the Military Channel and get some of the highest reviews for the channel. Special Ops Mission is one of the best shows on the channel. The show features a former Air Force Pararecueman and a former U.S. Army Ranger; in the show they are usually given a set of missions to complete and can do this solo or chose operatives to help them. They are then fitted with official army gear and M4 or M16 Assault rifles loaded with simulation rounds. The missions are OPFOR based which means there is an opposing force which is trying to prevent them from completing their mission. Along with documentaries and Army-Navy sports games, this is the kind of programming you can expect to find on the Military Channel; so I can assure you that you won't find this channel boring. Being the very patriotic person that I am, I love almost anything that has to do with military and defense. The Military Channel's programming is filled with both these things and is very informative on upcoming weapons and the newest protective/defensive measures our country is using. Military Channel is available via most cable and satellite television providers; its rating are constantly raising and may soon overtake it competitors like History (The History Channel) and The Military History Channel. The Military Channel would definitely be a good addition to your cable lineup and I strongly suggest you check them out.
