Miss Van Outen shouldn't be part of Strictly Come Dancing - Chris Evans recently said that Denise Van Outen should not be part of the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Chris Evans recently said that Denise Van Outen should not be part of the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. The Radio 2 DJ claimed that Denise has an unfair advantage over other contestants in the BBC One show after since she already appeared in West End musicals. Evans was referring to an article written by Daily Mail columnist Sandra Parsons, Chris asked: 'Should Denise Van Outen be allowed to appear on Strictly as she's appeared in a musical actually dancing?' Evans agreed with the comments that Parsons made in her article. He said: 'I think she's [Parsons] got a point, don't get me wrong I love Denise, by the way, and who wouldn't want to see Denise lighting up our screens on a Saturday night on BBC One's hit show Strictly? Continuing the Warrington born presenter added: 'But she is a professional actress/singer/dancer. 'Isn't it a story of aspiration from the beginning, the seeds of learning whether you do or don't have two left feet, to perhaps better yourself and becoming good if not better than you ever thought you could be?' Denise had some experience with Chicago, West End, and Broadway musicals. Denise said that though, people think that she is really good at dancing, in reality she can only do the basics. She added: 'I'm most nervous about the fact people will think I can dance already because of my stage career.' The mother-of-one also played hairdresser Paulette in 'Legally Blonde The Musical' back in 2010 following the time she gave birth to her daughter Betsy with husband Lee Mead. Evans has previously annoyed TV bosses for revealing that Michael Vaughn will be on the BBC One dancing completion. A source told The Sun newspaper: 'He's supposed to be a BBC man. What's his problem here?' However, Denise isn't the only celebrity on the lineup who has the advantage because of her experience. Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh regularly flashed her fancy footwork in several music videos along with her bandmates. She also got the role of Princess Fiona in Shrek: The Musical last October. Other celebrities who were going to strut their way on the dance floor are Victoria Pendleton, Jerry Hall, TV presenters Fern Britton, Richard Arnold, Westlife singer Nicky Byrne, and former EastEnders star Sid Owen on the show. Ex Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, Zoe Ball's father Johnny, actress Dani Harmer, actor Colin Salmon, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan and Olympian Louis Smith finish the lineup. Strictly Come Dancing can be watched this Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
