Under-fire MP Nadine Dorries went straight in at the deep end yesterday when she began her notorious stint in I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Tory Ms Dorries, 55, was inside a canoe paddling towards the jungle camp when the craft took a lurch to the right that dumps her and her companions in the river. Next thing that was seen is that Tory was left up the creek without a paddle – The MP and her team-mates were all sporting life jackets and had to swim through the murky water prior to reaching the river bank safely. Ms Dorries has been suspended from the Tory Party because she hadn’t informed Chief Whip about her participation in the ITV jungle survival show. Ms Dorries and her team-mates – former Doctor Who actor Colin Baker, darts player Eric Bristow and former Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts – had been given the task to find their way to camp by means of boat after the ten celebrity contestants were split into two groups. Tory and her team got on a 45-minute journey across the lake, whereas their rivals faced the prospect of crossing a high-wire before they can set their feet to the jungle canopy. Ms. Dorries has taken in command of the task; Dorries told the other contestants: ‘I think we need to approach this task strategically and with a little bit of efficiency and organization.’ Ms Dorries immediately told the other participants to distribute their weight equally inside the boat. ‘I don’t know what that would do for our morale if we didn’t complete this in 45 minutes,’ she added. Despite Ms. Dorries taking in control, she quickly lost control of the boat, and it was soon spinning round in the water. The MP, nicknamed Mad Nad by her political rivals, managed to regain control and get her crew working together. But their efforts came too late, and the lightweight boat started to sink because the combined weight of its passengers and their luggage was too much for the boat to carry. Within minutes, the craft was almost wholly underwater, forcing the contestant to dive in the water. Ms Dorries surfaced from the water with her blonde hair hanging limply over her face and her wet clothes clinging to her body. Even though, taking control of the group in the boat, she insisted that it wasn’t her fault that the boat sank. Despite the fact that Ms Dorries had been planning her stint in the ITV show for months, her presence in the show was kept secret until last week.
