New Girl Each time a new TV show airs, it is only natural that TV fans are likely to want to get involved and therefore, want to see what the show is all about. For New Girl, this meant that the team probably got a lot of people watching it, within a target audience that they were not really expecting. One thing that can be said is that the first episode is actually quite good. The thing to consider is that the actual set up of one girl and a couple of guys being friends and hanging out on a regular basis is certainly not anything new. Take a look at Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, among many other different shows. That being said, the show is actually quite unique in terms of the actual story line that goes with these friends and of course, the range of characters helps to make this show seem extremely fresh. The start of New Girl focuses on a break up, but at the same time, a new relationship is starting. What a lot of people will notice is that the quality of the first episode is above and beyond what the second and third episodes are able to achieve. In fact, every episode after the first lacks quality and it seems like they are either rushed, or that the cast/producers simply ran out of things to incorporate into the show. Throughout the show, Zooey Deschanel, who plays Jess, can be extremely unpredictable. In fact, this goes almost to a point of where a viewer will be questioning what she does and why she does it, without any real explanation. Nick is another of the characters that feature in New Girl. One thing that can be said him is that it is almost like the set was designed to focus on him, but then the focus shifted elsewhere; without any real reason. His situation with his ex is one that many have already been in though, so a lot of people can relate to exactly how he is feeling at this moment in time. Overall the show offers a fairly basic viewing experience, with the average TV show guru, likely to give this show somewhere in the region of 5 or 6 out of ten. The real reason for this is that the show overall lacks any real depth and the uniqueness of this TV show is actually fairly limited in a way that it is nothing special, and nothing that has not been done before.
