Hersh started his career in nothing but journalism by becoming a police reporter in 1959 for the "City News Bureau". Later he was a correspondent in the "United Press International" in Dakota South. Around 1963, Hersh became the correspondent of the "Associated Press". Hersh left Associated Press after some time and then sold his article to "The New Republic". It was during 1968 Presidential elections that Hersh served as the "press secretary" in the active campaign for the Senator "Eugene McCarthy". After he left the campaign of McCarthy, Hersh then returned back to his first love "journalism" as an independent writer who covered the War at Vietnam. Sometime around 1969, Hersh got a suggestion from "Geoffrey Cowan" who was of the "Village voice" about a particular army lieutenant who was found offensive in court for murdering the people in Vietnam. Hersh's subsequent investigation was given in business to the "Dispatch News Service", which was a run in almost thirty three newspapers and brought out the truth about the, "My Lai massacre", which won Hersh the "Pulitzer Prize" in 1970. Hersh was appointed as a journalist for the "Washington bureau" of "the New York Times" in 1972, where Hersh served from 1972-75 and also in 79. In 1983, Hersh won the "National Book Critics Circle Award" and also "the Los Angelis times" prize book in biography for his book The Prince of Power: Kissinger in the Nixon White House. Hersh also contributed in a great extent to the "PBS television documentary" "Buying the Bomb" around 1985. Hers became a very regular contributor in 1993, to "the New Yorker". Few works by Seymour Hersh: It was on the 12th of November 1969, that Hersh came out with the story of "My Lai Massacre" which was a story about how some hundreds of Vietnamese civilians who were unarmed were killed by soldiers of United States in March 1968. Hersh also wrote about this incident and the cover up in "My Lai 4". Around the early 1974's, It was the plan of Hersh to publish a story on the CIA project which had a code name "Project Jennifer" to get back a drowned "Soviet navy submarine" which was on the floor of the "Pacific ocean". In 1975, a story about this project came in the "Los Angeles Times", which included a "5 paragraph" detailed summary of the various twists and the turns in its way to the publication. Hersh wrote a lot of books based on the political conditions. For which he won a lot of awards. In 2004, Hersh broke out the Abu Gharib prisoner abuse story to the people. All of these articles collected together in the Chain of Command. As a great contributor to "the New Yorker" since 1993, Seymour Hersh has written a lot about the post 9-11 attack on America and the administration of Bush, the national security and also about the wars in Afghanistan as well as Iraq.
