So You Think You Can Dance is an American television reality show that airs on Fox. As the name states this is a dance show, on the show dancers are allowed to compete with one another in hopes of being crowned America's Favorite Dancer. This program first aired on July 20th 2005 and has since run for a total of 6 seasons covering 104 episodes. This show was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythogoe, much like the Simon form American Idol Simon Fuller has made a career out of reality TV programs and has had a hand in developing all of the Idol shows. This show was one of the most popular programs on television before American's Got Talent came out and took its crown. In 2005 So You Think You Can Dance was the number one watched program in all of America but it has since fallen to number four in ratings and I do not have high hopes of it coming back to the glory it once had. This does not mean that the show is not doing well, on the contrary it is doing pretty fine and I think it will be around for a bit longer. The show has been nominated for 11 Emmys and has taken home 5 of these; it has also won 2 of the five Teen Choice Awards it has been nominated for. If you like this program you may also find Dancing with the Stars pretty entertaining. Just like So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars is also a dancing verity show which features all kinds of dancers and dancing styles. The prizes for both shows are about the same which is not a good thing because all the dancers get is a little over $100,000. The one thing shows like these are good for is getting the dancers recognition. I was never much for dancing reality shows before this one came out. I must say it is pretty interesting/entertaining, the dancers have so much energy and passion for what they are doing that you cannot help but watch in wonder. So head over to the fox network and check out this program today. If you would like to see clips from the previous seasons you can head over to fox.com, there you will find an assortment of clips and information about the show. Overall I give this program a 7/10.
