The CW Televisions Network (The CW) is basically a joint venture by CBS and Time Warner. Both companies were having trouble attracting new viewers to their TV channels so they decided to join forces and launch The CW. The channel was officially launched September 20th 2006 with a two hour premiere of America's Next Top Model, and every since that has attracted millions of viewers weekly. The CW didn't have to do that much advertising because it brought viewers from both of the channels it was created out of. Most of The CW's programming is geared to persons 18-35 and consists of reality TV series, pop culture drama, and comedy programming. These programs air during The CW's 10 hour primetime section which runs Monday through Friday and includes Smallville, Gossip Girl, Supernatural, Everybody Hates Chris and a few others. The CW also airs programs for children between the ages of 7-11; most of the programs are new episodes of classical cartoons like Yu-Gi-Oh and TMNT. But theses do not interrupt regular programming and are generally aired on Saturday mornings when regular viewers are still in bed. All CW programming is available in high definition except reality TV and daytime kids programming. I have to commend them for this because the new scam most TV networks pull off is stretching the picture and calling it HD, The CW is one of the few that actually offer their shows in full HD. I've got to say, I am really impressed with the way this joint venture has turned out. The CW's 2009 promotional slogan "TV to Talk About" is very accurate because this is one channel that everyone is chattering about. So go check it out, I can guarantee you will not be able to keep quite after watching any one of their shows.
