In 1997 Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie came together and formed what we know today as ABC's The View. The View has aired more than 2,500 episodes, most of which revolve around discussion and featured guests. Ms. Walters serves as the moderator for the discussions which are held around a table in front of a live audience. This show has become so popular that several copy shows and parodies have been created by rivaling networks; even Saturday Night Live has joined in making several parodies of this show. Some of the hosts of this show are anything but nice to persons with opposing views, this causes a lot of arguments and one such argument even resulted in one of the hosts leaving the show. In mid 2007, then co-hose Rosie O'Donnel made statements which in essence claimed that the United States Military is nothing but a bunch terrorists; of course this did not sit well with most of the other hosts and an argument ensued out of this. The argument ended a few episodes later with O'Donnel calling co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck a "cry baby". O'Donnel left the view shortly after claiming that she could not work out a deal with ABC on the length of her contract renewal; but most people think she was asked to leave the show by Barbara Walters. Although they would like you to think this is a show with no bias; that could never be true. Each host has their own views, most of which -I should mention- are liberal. Even show creator and co-host Barbara Walters knows this; during an interview with film maker John Ziegler she said "The View sometimes seems to have a liberal bias… but that's why it's called The View." What this should say to us is: take the show for what it is, nothing on the show should be taken as fact anything you hear on the show should be taken with skepticism. This show is ok, I do not find it real interesting, if I have nothing else to do I'll watch it for a few minutes, but I would not go out of my way to watch this show. Do not take my word for it, go and check out this show for yourself. The View is different than most talk shows out there in that its hosts are female. So I've got to give them props for originality.
