Shows that focus on crime or detective shows are a dime a dozen. With the sensational success of the CSI TV series which portrays detailed and intricate factors that take place during a crime investigation, several new shows quickly adapted the idea and replicated the success of the show. With the intense competition of crime related TV shows, writers and producers are obliged to incorporate a unique attribute to achieve some level of success. This was efficiently done in Castle. Castle revolves around a writer (Richard Castle) who closely follows highly driven and experienced detective Kate Beckett after a recent murder took place that was based on one of his books. Using the influence of the mayor, Castle finds his way in the middle of all the crime fighting action as it gave him more inspiration for his novels. While this was the premise of his new “hobby”, the subtle chemistry between Kate and Castle suggests differently. The unique aspect of the show stems from the wit and humor that Castle provides throughout the episode making it a more light hearted, relaxing and fun detective series rather than the intense, serious sequence followed by other shows such as CSI. The show follows a standard progression where detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) (along with detectives Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever)) is called in to inspect a murder scene. Castle (Nathan Fillion) then shortly follows and proceeds to take the very serious matter in a juvenile and humorous manner. Like most other crime shows, the plot tends to eventually get repetitive however with Castle the humor and lighthearted comedy keeps viewers engaged. Episodes that are on a more personal tone tend to be the most innovative and interesting. Castle comfortably surpasses over 10 million viewers making it one of the most popular TV show. Season 4 of Castle has been scheduled to resume on September 19th 2011. Castle being an ABC TV show primarily airs on ABC but is telecasted in a variety of other networks such as Star World in Asia, the 7 network in Australia and CTV among other networks. The lack of a cliffhanger kills the suspense in the show however Castle’s wit and the creativity behind the murder cases will certainly keep you engrossed on your television every Monday night.
