Jimmy Kimmel Live! Is an American late night comedy talk show that appears on
ABC. This show is hosted by
Jimmy Kimmel himself and episodes usually include jokes, discussion, and celebrity guests. After convincing
ABC to pick up his show; Jimmy Kimmel Live! made its debut in early 2003 and has been on the air ever since.
Jimmy Kimmel's jokes are mainly about news, other late night shows, and celebrities and he is very good at finding the line that shouldn't be crossed and crossing it. The show also frequently features members from his family who always seem to be fighting with each other.
As with most late night shows Jimmy Kimmel Live features a band, this band is named Cleto and the Cletones and they play to open the show, close the show, and during commercial breaks. This is sometimes the best part of late night shows, the bands always provide humor to situations that would otherwise not be funny. Also the in house band sometimes participates in the show which is always unexpected but very well received.
When this show first came out I did not think it was going to last that long, the jokes were just" out there" and I did not see the reason why
ABC decided to keep this show on the air. But
Jimmy Kimmel has earned his spot on
ABC and has aired 1,185 episodes to date. While networks like
NBC seem to be trying as hard as they can to kill their successful shows,
ABC is holding on to what they got and their viewers are very thankful for this. I must mention that -as with most late night show hosts-
Jimmy Kimmel sometimes makes jokes that are geared towards mature audiences, so if you have little children watching please make sure to use your discursion.
In all truth I must say not every episode is funny, some are just downright boring and this has me wondering if
ABC is running out good writers. But, when there is a funny episode it is a funny as it gets. Jimmy Kimmel Live is in the same category as The Tonight Show; light hearted comedy with absolutely no point. If you are in the mood for a good laugh check out this show, if you are lucky you will catch one of the better episodes that will not bore you to death.
