After seeing the success of BBC's show The Office; NBC decided to bring their own version to their network. This show has fast become one of the most watched television shows on NBC and has a growing audience that is far greater than the BBC version. The show is also syndicated throughout North America and the United Kingdom by Comedy Network, Comedy Central, and ITV4. The office is basically about the lives of characters who all work for a paper company. These characters all seem to have conflicting personalities and this gets them into a lot of trouble. To make the show shorter a lot of content is cut out of the episodes that air on TV and you can find most of this by buying the DVD's or downloading episodes online. These deleted clips sometimes fill holes in the episodes or even entire seasons; for example if you watched the extended version of The Return you would understand why a key character (I will not say who) left. A lot of the cast from this show were relatively unknown before landing their roles, the casting directors took a chance and it seems to have paid off. This is always a good thing when it comes to television because today it seems that we only see a few faces in every movie/show, also bringing persons onto the show who do not have as much experience in show business brings an originality that you would not find otherwise. This is seen in the improvisation that is done during the filming of the show; not everything you see on screen is planned out, some of the most memorable scenes from the show are totally winged by the actors. For example the kiss scene from the episode "Gay Witch Hunt" where Michael kissed Oscar was total improvisation and all the reactions from the other actors are real. If you have already seen this show and like it; you may want to check out Better Off Ted. Better Off Ted is similar in story line, but has a whole lot more comedy. If you like to watch lay back comedy shows The Office is the right kind of show for you, the comedy is not too comical or over the top but there is still enough to keep you smiling through the entire episode. I give this show a 7/10, all the work they have done has really paid off and this show has come out on top.
