Numb3rs is an American television crime drama that airs on the CBS network. This program made its debut on January 23rd 2005 and has since run for 5 complete seasons. Numbers is currently in its 6th season which began in September of 2009. For some reason CBS has decided to cut out a huge chuck of the 6th season; instead of ordering 22 episodes they have only ordered 16 so this is going to be a pretty short season. Numb3rs was created by Nicolas Falacci and Chery Heuton and is produced by Ridley and Tony Scott. Ridley and Tony are brothers; some of their best work includes Top Gun, Man on fire, and Déjà Vu. Numb3rs is broadcasted in both standard definition and HD and each episode runs for about 45 minutes excluding commercial breaks. This show is about the lives and work of two brothers, one is a mathematical genius and the other is an FBI Special Agent. Both are committed to fighting crime, they usually do this in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Mathematics is a big part of this show, the brother genius always seems to have something to do. I think it is very neat how they have been able to incorporate this into the show. Numb3rs has been received real well by most critics especially the ones form science boards. For example the creators won a Carl Sagan Award for Public Understanding of Science in 2006, and on average this program receives 10 million viewers per episode. If CBS wants to keep this number going I strongly suggest that they keep the authentic feel of their program going. There has been a little concern from a few critics because mathematicians are only consulted during the initial writing of the script and not during the final drafts. This leaves room for error in the show and holes in the plot line. Look, this is a pretty good show. I am not saying you are going to come out a genius just by watching this show, but if you love math you may find this more interesting than the other crime dramas out there. If you totally hate math do not worry; this program just uses math as a space filler, there is still plenty of flying bullets and explosions to keep you entertained. So head over to CBS tv and watch Numb3rs today, if this show doesn't fit into your schedule; no problem. You can still log onto their website and watch full length episodes whenever you have the time.
