Past Life is an American television drama which currently airs on the
Fox television network. This show made its debut on February 9th 2010 and features the acting talents of Kelli Giddish, Nicholas Bishop, Richard Schiff, and Ravi Patel. The show was inspired by the book The Reincarnationist which was written by M.J. Rose. Though the show may seem to have little to do with the story line of the book the subject discussed is basically the same; everybody has been here before, just in another body and in another time.
Past Life is about the lives and work of Price and Kate; both are officers of the law who do their best to solve any crime. Kate is a firm believer in the idea of past lives while Price is very skeptical and always seems to dismiss the plan facts that are right in front of him. Most of the times he says there is another explanation for what ever happened, but he still uses the information that Kate gives him from people that recall memories from their past life. Although this is supposed to be a serious program there are a few characters who provide comical relief, such as Dr. Rishi Karna who loves crappy TV, Jazz, and just annoying people in general.
If you are a deep thinker you may find this program very entertaining and thought provoking. The whole issue of past lives is a pretty complicated one which has been debated for years. Some people claim that it is possible and others say it is totally and utterly impossible, but the one thing I am sure of is that this show is going to make a believer out of millions of viewers worldwide. Not just the gullible ones; the writers of Past Life have put together a pretty good argument, most show writers take no time to research what they are writing on but not so with the ones from this show.
Overall I think this is going to be a pretty great show. As a critic I cannot say much yet because this is a very new show and for some reason networks seem to like to crash their best shows mid season.
